Borrowing from a technique used to repair the hulls of ships, Paul Evans combined traditional craft with experimental material and devised a process that created pieces that appeared to be cast bronze but retained the light weight and functionality of home furniture.
The "sculpted metal" process consisted of applying an epoxy resin over a wood or light metal substrate and hand shaping the patterns and textures like one would mould clay. Once set the resin was sprayed with atomized bronze that was then welded under fire of a blow torch. Each piece created under the direct supervision of Evans.
